SW Gas, Salvation Army participating in Energy Share Program

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

Southwest Gas is looking to help out those who need assistance with paying their gas bills. 

There is a special sign up event continuing today at the Mulcahy YMCA (2805 E. Ajo Way, Tucson) located behind the Pima County One Stop Job Center complex.  Sign ups are happening from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The Salvation Army has teamed up with Southwest Gas for the Energy Share Program, it is an emergency fund that provides direct assistance to qualified people with financial difficulties.  To qualify for assistance people do not need to be delinquent on a bill, they just need to show that there is hardship or a low-income situation.

There are ten documents that people are required to bring with them to this event. They are:

-Most recent Southwest Gas bill

-Birth certificates of everyone in the home

-Social security cards of everyone in the home

-Picture ID for all adults in the household

-Proof of income for the last 30 days

-Award Letter for SSI, disability, pension, child support or unemployment

-DES award letter for food stamps, AFDC

-Household monthly bills - utilities, cable, phone, car payment, insurance, medical, credit cards, etc.

-Receipts, bank printout of expenses past 30 days

-Contract, lease for section 8, conventional, HUD housing

-If not a citizen, please bring a valid passport of certificate of naturalization or valid resident alien card or a current picture ID, drivers license from Mexico or your country of citizenship.
