To make a donation go online to www.azgives.org and click the green button, it will take you to a list of nonprofits across Arizona that are participating.  150 of those are in Tucson and surrounding communities.

How did Tucson and Pima County match up against the rest of Arizona during the 2013 AZ Gives Day - Tucson residents raised $.26 per capita, while Pima County gave $.16 per capita that is compared to the state total of $.10 per capita.

The goal of AZ Gives Day is to raise $1 million for all participating Arizona nonprofits.

"Nonprofits are really the unsung heroes of our community," said Lauren Schroeder from Alliance of Arizona Nonprofits.  "They're doing the work that others aren't able to do or aren't willing to do.  With budget cuts and the recession, the government had to cut back on a lot of services.  Nonprofits in our communities fill those gaps."

So far today donations to the www.azgives.org total more than $1.3 million. The deadline for contributions in Wednesday at 11:59 p.m.
