TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

A string of sexual assaults in the same area have a suspect behind bars.

Tucson police confirmed in a press conference Monday they arrested a sexual assault suspect connected to at least two of four reported incidents on the south side.

Tucson police are not giving a name or picture yet, but say he closely matches this composite the department released last week.

They arrested him Friday for a sexual assault in the 22nd and Craycroft area back in March. Police say that today they received crime lab evidence connecting him to another sexual assault last week, but they are still determining if he's responsible for assault in January and one earlier this month.  Police say they should have answers in a few days and then provide more information.  They say he has been convicted of sexual assault before and served prison time for it.

All of the incidents happened late at night, between 11 p.m. and 7 a.m., near 22nd Street and Craycroft Road while the victims were walking alone, according to TPD Sgt. Chris Widmer.

Widmer said the suspect was armed with a weapon in four incidents, and the series of assaults might be related, according to a news release.

The department warns the public to report suspicious activity to police and to travel in groups when walking at night.

NOTE: Tucson police originally reported five sexual assaults but have changed the number to four, as of April 14.
