TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

Tucson's Linda Ronstadt joins an elite group of musicians as she is inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Thursday evening.

Ronstadt, 67, is one of six new members who will be formally inducted along with Peter Gabriel, KISS, Hall and Oates, Nirvana and Cat Stevens.

Unfortunately, Ronstadt won't be attending her own ceremony as she continues her on-going battle with Parkinson's disease which has left her unable to sing and perform anymore.

Last year in an article by the Los Angeles Times, Ronstadt said she never aspired to the Hall of Fame and that came out in "Simple Dreams," her new "musical memoir," in which she wrote that "I never thought of myself as a rock 'n' roll singer. I've thought of myself as a singer who sang rock 'n' roll, who sang this, who sang that."

In downtown Tucson at the Rialto Theatre the marquee simply reads, "congratulations Linda Ronstadt, 1st Tucsonan in Rock N Roll HOF! (Hall of Fame).
