CROSBY TWP., OH (FOX19) -

Volunteers are needed Saturday at Miami Whitewater Forest, one of the Great Parks of Hamilton County parks.

The workers will plant, stake and tube 1,200 tree seedlings, protect 100 small trees, and plant, mulch and protect 12 large trees.

The event is 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.

FOX19's Kelly Rippin is live from the park this morning on the FOX19 Morning News.

Supporting organizations will be on hand with displays and to answer any questions you may have about stream protection, reforestation and Taking Root. That's an initiative to plant 2 million trees by 2020.

A planting demo, lunch and drinks will be provided.

Registration is required at http://greatparks.org/volunteer/one-time-volunteer. Volunteers of all ages are welcome, groups and individuals (those ages 14 and younger must be with an adult).

Miami Whitewater Forest is located at 9001 Mount Hope Road in Crosby Township.
