TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

The grand prizes have been awarded in Tucson Medical Center's Mega Raffle; more than 2,800 prizes were awarded.

On Wednesday April 9, the last names were drawn for TMC's Mega Raffle, with Sahuarita resident Keith Green taking home grand prize number one, a customized A.F. Sterling home, a 2014 Hyndai Equus Signature, plus cash.  Grand prize number two was a Tesla Model S. electric luxury car going to Red Rock resident Rachael Albrecht.  Both Green and Albrecht were first time ticket buyers.

The two were personally called by TMC Mega Raffle Executive Direct Kathy Rice, she also called each of the winners who won cars and vacation packages, according to a recent TMC release.

"This is one of the best parts of my job," said Rice.  "Hearing their response when they learn they've won a prize is incredible, but the best part for me is learning their stories.  Everyone has a wonderful story to share."

One such story was from Andrea Shelor.  She won a 2014 Audi Q5 Quattro and $15,000, after buying a three pack on her birthday.  Shelor was born at TMC and thought participating in the raffle was a good way to celebrate her birthday and support the hospital at the same time.

Another winner Roy Akers, a military retiree, had recently returned home after two years as a contractor in Iraq.  He won a six-night stay in Monte Carlo, Monaco, after a last minute buy a half-hour before the midnight deadline on the last day.  Akers and his wife plan on celebrating their anniversary in Monaco.

"We are overwhelmed by the outpouring of support we have received and we are very appreciative of all who purchased tickets," stated Michael Duran, vice president and chief development officer of TMC Foundation. "At the end of the day, TMC patients are the biggest winners."

A master list of winners, once all are verified, will be listed on the following site www.TMCmegaraffle.org. Winners will also receive a confirmation letter in the mail.

Proceeds from the TMC Mega Raffle will support programs and services impacting patient care.
