PHOENIX (CBS5) -

The Valley's annual Celebrity Fight Night gala held Friday night in North Phoenix raised $8 million.

The money will benefit a number of charities, including the Muhammad Ali Parkinson Center at Barrow Neurological Institute.

It's one of the biggest charity events in the nation. A-list stars hit the red carpet at JW Marriott Desert Ridge.

Robert DeNiro, Joe Torre, The Band Perry, Michael Buble and many other celebrities were there to support a good cause.

"It's just a very powerful," said actress Melissa Peterman. "It's amazing. My jaw drops when I see how much money they raise."

The event included silent and live auctions, a gourmet dinner and a dazzling show.

The live auction featured a space flight experience onboard the XCOR Lynx, rocketing up to 200,000 feet in five minutes to suborbital space.

The two highest selling live auction items of the night were a private dinner at the home of Reba McEntire and a special evening featuring dinner with Robert De Niro, Billy Crystal and Joe Torre at De Niro's Locanda Verde in New York. Each dinner was sold twice for $500,000.

Celebrities say each year is always so memorable.

"What keeps people excited is Muhammad Ali," said musician David Foster. "No matter how he's feeling he makes the effort and he is here. It just speaks volumes about him as a human being and what he's done for our planet."

Over the past 20 years, Celebrity Fight Night has raised $95 million for the Muhammad Ali Parkinson Center and other charities.
