SAGINAW, MI (WNEM) -

Many Mid-Michigan waterways and streets are flooded after the weekend's strong storms. Several counties are now under flood watches.

In Midland and Saginaw counties, the National Weather Service has issued a flood warning for the Tittabawassee River.  The river has already reached a flood stage of 24 feet and is expected to reach over 28 feet by Tuesday afternoon.

As water levels continue to rise, some residents of Sanford have been advised to evacuate their homes.

Some city and county roads have been closed as a result. Officials are advising drivers to obey all road closure signs and to stay clear of standing water.

TV5 Meteorologist Catherine Bodak says conditions will feel more like mid-winter than mid-April as temperatures remain stuck in the 30s. Some slick spots are likely on area roads due to the snow that fell overnight. Tuesday afternoon, A few lingering flurries are possible but most will see a mix of sun and clouds. Tonight, as skies clear, record low temperatures are possible.

Gale warnings are in effect for Lake Michigan and Lake Superior as forecasters warn of hazardous conditions along the shoreline.

The National Weather Service says the warnings are in effect into Monday afternoon, with waves of 14 feet to 20 feet in parts of Lake Michigan. Warnings also were issued for the eastern and middle part of Lake Superior, with waves of 8 feet to 12 feet possible.

Forecasters are warning those on the water without experience and equipment for such conditions to head to a safe harbor.

High winds also are causing problems in parts of Michigan's Lower Peninsula, where a high wind warning was issued. WWJ-AM says winds gusted to 60 mph on Monday morning at Detroit Metropolitan Airport in Romulus and blowing debris is reported.

In suburban Detroit, officials say a power line fell on a school bus, trapping a driver on the bus.

A dispatcher with police in Oakland County's Bloomfield Township says no children were on the bus on Monday morning and police were waiting for a utility crew to respond.

No injuries are reported.
