TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

The University of Arizona Police Department is hosting an event to help the public get rid of expired, unused and unwanted prescription drugs, anonymously and for free.

The department is hosting its drug take back event on Saturday, April 26 at UAPD at 1852 E. 1st Street, near Campbell and Speedway.

The public can bring prescription medications, pills or tablets in their original containers.

The department will not accept liquids, aerosols, inhalers, intra-venous solutions, injectibles, syringes or glass containers. They also ask participants to remove all personal information from prescription labels.

The department said these events help prevent pill abuse and theft.
