Freshman right fielder Katiyana Mauga is one of 25 players to be named a finalist for NFCA Division I National Freshman of the Year Award, the NFCA announced Thursday.

The award, in its inaugural season, will be given to the nation's top freshman.

The San Diego native leads the Pac-12 and is fourth nationally with a .938 slugging percentage. Her 15 homers rank second (to Chelsea Goodacre) in the Pac-12 and sixth in the country. Mauga is batting .365 with 44 RBI, the second most on the team. In addition to her 15 homers, the freshman has eight doubles and a triple while drawing 26 walks to put up a .508 on-base percentage.

Wilson is one of six Pac-12 players on the list.

On Thurs., May 8, the list will be trimmed down to the top 10 finalists, while the top 3 finalists will be selected and released on Thurs., May 22. The inaugural NFCA Division I National Freshman of the Year trophy will be presented during a live ceremony on May 27 prior to the opening of the annual Women's College World Series in Oklahoma City, Okla.

Arizona returns to action on Wednesday, April 23 when it hosts New Mexico State in a doubleheader beginning at 4:00 p.m. PDT.
