PCC opens new complaints office

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

A new Office of Dispute Resolution has been created by Pima Community College, according to an announcement by PCC Chancellor Lee D. Lambert.

The Office of Dispute Resolution will bring the college up to compliance with the Higher Learning Commission's Assumed Practice A.4, which the HLC had determined the college was not doing when it put PCC on probation in 2013.

The new office will be the central 'hub' for complaints issued by students, PCC employees and the community.  The office will take the complaints, investigate them and issue solutions, as well as analyze how to improve the dispute process. Disputes will be taken by the college's expanded phone and web based compliance and ethics hotline.

"Students, employees and community members with a complaint or grievance about PCC should know that their concerns will be addressed consistently, objectively and fairly," Chancellor Lambert said in a message to the College community.

The office will report to the Office of Internal Audit, which provides objective appraisal of College operations, including programs, finances and governance, according to the PCC release.  The internal auditor has complete access to College employees, policies, procedures and data, as well as access to the Governing Board.
