Brown fire 90 percent contained

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

The Brown fire that started near Sierra Vista on Sunday, April 13 is now 90 percent contained, according to authorities.

Investigators are working to discern the details regarding how the fire began, but they do know that the fire was human caused, according to information from the Incident Information System website.

At its largest, the fire covered 500-600 acres of land. Now, the fire covers 240 acres, 232 acres on fort Huachuca and 8 acres on Coronado National Forest. 

Sunday evening, at 6:00 p.m., the fire will be shifted from a Type 1 Incident Management Team to a Type 3 local team.

    The lightning caused wildfire, in the Rincon Mountains east of Tucson, has burned 1,097 acres according to National Park Service officials. It is now at 75 percent contained, said officials and out-of-state fire crews are leaving the wildfire area.
