TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

Northwest Fire Department responded to a fire on the 12000 block on North Sunrise Shadow Drive late Sunday morning.

There were no residents at the home, according to Northwest Fire Department PIO Adam Goldberg. Crews were alerted to the fire by an automatic fire alarm in the home.

When crews arrived, they saw smoke coming from the home and forced entry. They found a smoldering mattress in the bedroom, according to Captain Goldberg.

The couple that live in the house were notified and returned home to assist with the investigation.

The fire began in the master bathroom of the home. Some damage occurred throughout the house and there was fire damage in the master bedroom and bathroom.

The two residents have been displaced due to the damages, which are estimated to be $15,000. The couple will stay with neighbors while the repairs are made.

The initial cause of the fire is undetermined, but investigators believe it may have been caused by a hair dryer that was left, plugged in, in the bathroom.
