PHOENIX (CBS5) -

The undefeated Arizona Rattlers (5-0) and Cleveland Gladiators (5-0) claimed the top two spots in the first Arena Football vPower Rankings of 2014, as tabulated on AFLFieldPass.com.

Both teams came away with wins in close games in Week 6 to remain perfect, as the Rattlers held off the Pittsburgh Power (3-2), 73-69, and the Gladiators ‘shocked' Spokane (3-2) with a Hail Mary touchdown pass off the net as time expired to defeat the Shock, 52-50. Arizona and Cleveland will put their undefeated records on the line again in Week 7, as the Gladiators host the Power at 7:00 p.m. EST on Saturday, April 28, while the Rattlers kickoff an hour later at home against the San Antonio Talons (1-5). Both games can be viewed live on ESPN3.

A tough loss in Week 6 to Arizona could not keep the Pittsburgh Power out of the No. 3 spot in this week's vPower Rankings. Quarterback Tommy Grady and receiver Aaron Lesue etched their names into the Power record book by setting new single-game franchise highs, as Grady tossed nine touchdowns, while Lesue hauled in six of them. The Power will look to avenge a Week 1 loss to the Gladiators as they travel to Cleveland for an East Division matchup this Saturday.

The Iowa Barnstormers' (3-2) defense came up big in Week 6, shutting down the LA KISS (2-3), 31-12, and propelling Iowa to the fourth spot in this week's vPower Rankings. All five of the Barnstormers' defensive backs recorded an interception in the game, while defensive end Mike Lewis continued to climb up the AFL's career sacks leaderboard, finishing the game with 3.5 quarterback takedowns and bringing his career total to 43.5 – tied for the sixth-highest mark in League history. The Barnstormers travel to Philadelphia this Sunday, April 27, to face the Philadelphia Soul in the AFL's first matchup on ESPN television since 2008. Kickoff is set for 4:00 p.m. EST on ESPN2.

The fifth-ranked Spokane Shock (3-2) looked to have wrapped up the victory when they scored a go-ahead touchdown with 13 seconds to play against the Gladiators last Saturday night. However, a Hail Mary pass off the net from Chris Dieker to Thyron Lewis as time expired took the air out of "Deaf Valley" and saddled the Shock with their second loss of the year. Spokane will look to rebound this week as they travel to the Sunshine State for a matchup with the Tampa Bay Storm (2-3) in "NET10 Wireless Arena Football Saturday" on CBS Sports Network. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. EST on Saturday.
