PDEQ approves garbage pickup change

Posted: Updated:

For those Pima County residents who put their garbage on the curb twice a week for pickup, changes are on the way.

Nine garbage collection companies have been approved for changes, which will take effect immediately. Those nine companies applied to have the frequency of garbage pickup changed from twice a week to just once a week.

The Pima County Department of Environmental Quality approved the request from the nine permitted solid waste haulers.  As part of the variance process allowed by state and county regulations, each hauler had to submit a vector control plan, which was then approved by the Pima County Health Department.

For residents who put trash out twice a week, that soon will change to once a week.

The nine companies with this new variance are - Desert Pathways, Hughes Sanitation Services, Republic Services of AZ, Right Away Disposal, Talkin' Trash, Titan Recycle and Trash, Waste Management of Arizona, Whip N Spur Trash, and Z Best Services.
