Venus rises in the eastern sky during the morning this time of year, which has earned the planet the nickname 'morning star'.

This week, Venus shines especially bright because the planet rises above the horizon right before sunrise.

Sunrise on Friday is at 5:44 AM and then one minute earlier on Saturday.

Venus, paired with a crescent moon during the early morning hours, offers great photo opportunities for shutterbugs.
