TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

An eight-year-old boy who was struck by a hit-and-run driver while riding his bike now has a new bike and helmet, thanks to Pima County Sheriff's Auxiliary volunteers.

Rene got the bike Wednesday from Chief Deputy Chris Nanos, with help from the county Department of Transportation.

Ajo Bikes also sponsored the new bike for little Rene, and his three siblings also got three bicycles.

Deputies say Rene was doing everything right when he was hit in early April: he had a helmet on and was in a crosswalk at Shannon and Curtis.

They're still looking for who hit the boy.  The suspect's vehicle is a white, newer model, two-door coupe.
