What an East Price Hill man found on his front door Thursday morning was something he never imagined in his wildest dreams.
Ralph Ford, who is Jewish, woke up to a swastika spray painted on his door.
Police are now investigating this a hate crime.
"I never expected this in a million years," said Ford.
Ford geared up to leave his home on Wells Street that he shares with his wife Thursday morning to take his dogs for a walk. As he opened the door he found the swastika, stopping him in his tracks.
"I couldn't believe there was a swastika painted on my front door. A cold chill went all the way through me," said Ford.
The swastika painted on Ford's door is not the only showing of hate he's experienced lately. He tells FOX19 he's heard other hate-filled messages being shouted from the streets.
"I've had little four and five year old kids come up and say ‘Heil Hitler' and ‘white power.' I think the older kids are teaching it to these little kids," Ford tells FOX19.
That's not the first time he's heard the slurs, either.
Ford is an Army veteran who is battling PTSD, OCD and depression. He's also fought cancer. He's been called a snitch in his neighborhood, but says he's just reporting illegal activity, as he says he's supposed to do.
"You never know when you will need him to look out for the neighborhood. I don't even know why somebody did that," said Sinella Anderson, a neighbor.
Ford says with that, enough is enough.
"I was already ready to move, but this has really clinched it. I want to try to make a move as fast as possible," he said.
In their investigation, Cincinnati Police are investigating two offenses. One is ethnic intimidation, and the other is criminal damaging/endangering. Ford says police have told him they'll increase patrols in the area.
