TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

A SWAT situation on the south side of Tucson ended with an empty home Sunday afternoon, according to Tucson Police Department.

Detectives executed a search warrant at a home in the 1700 block of West Pueblo Vista, according to Sgt. Pete Dugan. He said officers believed they had tracked a suspect to the location.

The extra offices were called in because detectives do not rush into buildings when there is not an active chase, according to Dugan.

"It's a matter of officer safety," he said.

Police blocked off parts of the street and evacuated nearby homes in the neighborhood.

The SWAT team sent its tactical robot into the home for the initial search. Dugan said officers followed up with a second search to make sure the suspect was not inside.

Details of the suspect could not be shared because of the current investigation, but Dugan said he is not a danger to the public.
