For every quart of soup sold, a new soup kitchen in Anderson Township will pay it forward by donating a bowl to local nonprofits serving disadvantaged families in the Greater Cincinnati area.
La Soupe held its grand opening Friday with a taste of edibles that will be featured on its rotating menu. Owner Suzy DeYoung calls it a "French roadside soup shack" serving pot-friendly entrees, croque du jour, therapeutic broths and seasonal specialties.
A signature item on the menu was developed by 10-year-old Natalia as part of the Make-A-Wish Foundation. While undergoing chemotherapy for a brain tumor, she said her mother's soup helped keep her warm. She decided her wish would be to feed the hungry, and with the help of Master Chef Jean-Robert de Cavel, owner of Cincinnati's Jean-Robert's Table, they created a recipe.
DeYoung promised to serve "Chef Natalia's Soup of Love" at her new location, which she brought to the FOX19 Morning Xtra Monday morning.
La Soupe is located at 4150 Round Bottom Road in Anderson Township. For additional information, visit www.lasoupecincinnati.com.
