Grand Canyon officials report death at South Rim

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

A search and rescue crew responded to a report of a person who fell off the rim at Mather Point on the South Rim of the Grand Canyon around 1:10 p.m., according to the Grand Canyon Regional Communications Center.

The National Park Service Helitak crew found the body approximately 400 feet below the rim. Mather Point will be closed to the public until further notice.

No further information was available.
