Police execute search warrant at north Toledo home, dog shot

TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) -

A dog was shot during the execution of a search warrant Tuesday April 29 afternoon on Chase Street in North Toledo. It is still unclear how the dog is doing but we have learned more about what led up to the situation.

We were there as Toledo Police handcuffed and took Gregory Schrecongost into custody. He has since been booked at the Lucas County Jail on several drug charges.

Toledo police and the SWAT team executed the search warrant at this home earlier Tuesday afternoon. People in the area say a dog at that home was shot during the search.

"We heard two ‘bam bam,' real big booms and nobody knew it was them shooting the dog and everyone on the entire block is upset as you can see," said a neighbor.

The dog was taken to an emergency vet clinic for treatment but people at the clinic said the family specifically asked them to not release any information.

Schrecongost has been booked on several drug charges. Court documents say police found heroin and marijuana in the house.

We will bring you any new developments on this story as soon as we get them.
