FedRAMP certification sets a baseline of security standards for cloud computing providers to supply cloud services to Federal agencies.

CHANDLER, Ariz., April 30, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Vigilant Technologies, a veteran owned, leading provider of cloud services, cloud engineering, and business continuity services, announced today that it is on track to achieve Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program (FedRAMP) compliance with the federal government. Through the federal government's security assessment, Vigilant will become the only veteran owned and the first Arizona company, to achieve compliance, and one of only a few cloud solutions companies certified to provide cloud services to federal agencies.

FedRAMP is a government-wide program that provides a standardized approach to security assessment, authorization, and continuous monitoring for cloud products and services.

Cloud Service Providers must implement the FedRAMP security requirements in their environment before June 5, 2014 to be eligible to work on US government cloud projects. Additional information on Vigilant's governmental services can be found here.

"The finalization of our FedRAMP compliance will ensure Vigilant stands as one of the few contractors able to meet federal government contracts in the southwest while giving additional peace of mind to our corporate customers," said Carl Ingram, Vigilant's Chief Technology Officer. "We are currently FISMA compliant and now soon to be FedRAMP compliant. As cloud service offerings evolve and security risks increases, the FedRAMP process will ensure our customers understand that Vigilant remains committed to their disaster management plans, their infrastructure and the security of their data, while also offering energy management and content categorization services within our FedRAMP Platform".

Once FedRAMP is operational, federal agencies have two years to ensure that currently implemented cloud services or those services in an active acquisition process meet FedRAMP requirements. For all future deployments FedRAMP will be mandatory for all federal agency cloud deployments.
