HENDERSONVILLE, Tenn., May 1, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- A new form of eco-friendly transportation has come to town. Jerry Philemon of Indian Trail, NC has just opened Jerry's Quadracycles, the official Rhoades Car dealership for North Carolina. Rhoades Car International manufactures a Made in the USA four wheel bike that drives like a car. The optional electric motor with one, two and four seat models provides sustainable transportation with zero emissions for families, while allowing the front two passengers to use pedal-power for healthy exercise. The company plans to introduce a new model this summer that allows all four passengers to pedal.

"Rhoades Car is a true 'Made in the USA' product with over 80% of its parts manufactured and assembled in the USA, which translates into jobs for Americans," said Bill Pomakoy, president of the 23 year old company who bought the business in 2010 after the death of its inventor, David Rhoades.

When asked why he wanted to open a Rhoades Car dealership, Philemon explained "Two-thirds of Americans are overweight or obese and North Carolina is the 17th most weight-challenged state in the nation according to the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. People need to exercise.  Not only is the Rhoades Car an economical eco-friendly form of transportation, but burning 500 calories an hour while having fun is good too."

His wife Carolyn added, "What I like about it is we're spending time with people we care about. Families are fragmented and it seems to be a good way to get families together again. Our kids and grandkids love it."

"We have been on a mission to bring a safe and sustainable means of exercise to America," said Pomakoy. "It's such a stable ride. Unlike a two-wheel bike, you don't have to balance yourself.  Almost anybody can ride a Rhoades Car."

In addition to appealing to people looking for a fun way to exercise that they will stick with, Philemon believes that the following groups will find the Rhoades Car exciting:

  • Eco-friendly
  • Health-conscious
  • Weight-challenged
  • People worried about high gas prices
  • People with special needs
  • Corporate wellness programs as they struggle to fight health care costs related to obesity.

Rhoades Car was recently in the news when Prince Harry rode a Cycle Car at the opening of the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.
