TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

Today the public will get the chance to voice their opinion on how to make Sabino Canyon better.

U.S. Forest Service officials are looking to update the 1993 Sabino Canyon Recreation concept plan.

They have been compiling data from visitors and user groups for several years to formulate recommendations for the plan update.

Proposed ideas up for discussion tonight include:

-addition of parking and trailhead facilities north of Sabino Canyon

-new "scenic" trail on the southeast side of Sabino Creek that can provide emergency access in times of flooding

-closing off and restoring redundant and unnecessary trails

-improved eco-friendly transportation system including new bicycle routes

-expanded visitor center

The public meeting is happening tonight from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Sabino Canyon Visitor Center, (5700 N. Sabino Canyon Rd.) its free and open to the entire community.
