TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

A Walgreens employee has been taken to the hospital following a reported stabbing involving a shoplifting suspect.

The employee followed the man who allegedly attempted to steal from the store when they got into a physical fight, according to Tucson Police Department Capt. Chris Widmer. He said the suspect allegedly stabbed the employee in the leg and fled from the scene in the 4900 block of N. 1st Avenue before 8:20 p.m.

The employee suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

Police detained one person whose involvement is not known at this time, Widmer said.
