Redington Pass fire at 80 percent, road reopened

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

The Redington Fire has burned 30 acres so far and crews are in the mop up stage, according to a U.S. Forest Service release.

Officials had closed Redington Road overnight due to the fire, but have since reopened the road to public use.  The fire, initially reported Saturday afternoon, was listed at 125 acres; officials have since revised the acreage burned to 30.

Crews are currently working to complete a containment line and are taking care of hot spots within the burned area. The fire is officially at 80 percent containment.

Drivers on Redington Rd. are advised to use caution when using the road, as fire crews are still using the road to access the fire scene. 

The fire is believed to be human caused and is currently under investigation, according to U.S. Forest Service Officials.
