TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

Tucson Department of Transportation crews will perform road improvements around town for the next two months as part of a voter approved, 5-year street bond program.

Construction workers will sealcoat several streets in the next few weeks. Sealcoat is a liquid applied to asphalt to prevent it from cracking.

They'll start with Greasewood Road between Speedway Boulevard and Anklam Road on the west side on Friday. Goret Road will also receive sealcoating from Gaia Place to Silverbell Road.

Glenn Street from Oracle Road to Alvernon Way, Glenn Street from Swan Road to Craycroft Road and the Glenn Street/Tucson Boulevard intersection will also get a fresh coats through Friday, May 16.

Crews will coat Speedway Boulevard overnight from Wilmot Road to Kolb Road on Sunday, May 18 from 6 p.m. to 5 a.m.

Overnight work will also take place on Broadway Boulevard between Stewart Avenue and Williams Boulevard from May 20 to May 22.

TDOT officials will cut lanes down in both directions in all of these areas, so plan for extra travel time, especially during morning and evening rush hour.

Please drive carefully and watch for people and equipment in all construction areas.

This voter approved road recovery program is funded by bonds.  All the money from these bonds will go towards restoring city streets through 2018, according to City of Tucson officials.
