NOGALES, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

A shipment of jalapenos heading across the border from Mexico turned out to be a lot more than just peppers.

Border Patrol agents at the Port of Nogales found 2,400 pounds of pot in the back of a tractor trailer on May 7.

Officers said the a 50-year-old driver was stopped at the border when a drug-sniffing dog picked up the scent of drugs from the vehicle.

They found 105 bales of marijuana worth more than $1.2 million hidden in the jalapenos.

The drugs and truck were processed for seizure and the driver was turned over to Immigration and Customs Enforcement's Homeland Security Investigations.
