An accomplished videographer created amazing time-lapse videos of Arizona this spring.

In April, Gavin Heffernan was an "artist in residence" at Northern Arizona University. He spent the month speaking to students about his experience as a time-lapse videographer.

Heffernan and students also traveled to the Grand Canyon National Park and Monument Valley Navajo Tribal Park to capture video of Arizona's dramatic landscapes.

"The weather was very intense at times, with high winds, frigid temperatures, and storm fronts passing over us, but the locations were absolutely stunning and the clouds parted for long enough to reveal some incredible starscapes, meteors, and the clearest Milky Way I've ever seen!" says Heffernan.

From the video, Heffernan created the time-lapse YIKÁÍSDÁHÁ - Navajo for Milky Way or "That Which Awaits the Dawn"

The video shows the stark landscapes of northern Arizona, plus amazing shots of the Milky Way with meteors streaking across the sky.
