KANSAS CITY, Mo., May 21, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- A new digital platform, Competitive Edge, will be offering fantasy football enthusiasts a data-driven advantage when choosing players - thanks to the power of behavioral psychology and big data.

The platform, which will be released in August, will focus on three major concepts - mental, physical, and environmental factors that are shown to affect how athletes perform.

The mental side focuses on the intangibles in the player's mind that can affect their performance leading up to a season or game day. The physical factors take information not only from current injury reports, but historical injures that could cause future problems. Environmental factors give insight on data surrounding the player that he cannot control - weather, altitude, region, types of defense, types of offense and more.

"We believe the saying that football is 10 percent physical and 90 percent mental holds true, and using data to make smart fantasy picks is an untapped advantage," says Michael Wilson, Co-Founder of Competitive Edge. "We're providing insights and information that has not been seen before with the purpose of guiding fantasy players to make more informed decisions. This will, in return, provide positive measurable results in your fantasy sports picks."

Competitive Edge will be available for $5 per month during the 2014 fantasy football season. The platform is offering 50 percent off the 2014 season pass to players who reserve their position by August 15. Press and strategic partners will have a sneak peek of the platform in late July.

"From the 2012 Presidential election to the success of 'Moneyball', data driven insights is transforming how we make predictions," says Ilya Tabakh, Co-Founder and visionary behind the platform. "We're building a platform that takes the same approach to fantasy sports, as well as other markets where making well-informed predictions are important."

Competitive Edge is developing the platform for additional sports and will be rolling them out on a per-demand basis. Sports already in progress are baseball, basketball, soccer and boxing.

The platform is backed by a pair of Kansas City-based companies, Ingenology and Datasense. Ingenology is a digital marketing agency and product accelerator that develops insightful, intelligent interactions to help organizations change the way they engage customers to drive business. Datasense is an enterprise technology consultancy with primary expertise in software engineering, signal processing and data science.
