TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

The Humane Society of Southern Arizona is giving the public the chance to be heroes this Memorial Day weekend, and adopt their own sidekicks.

Beginning at 11 a.m. on May 23 and continuing until Memorial Day - all adult pets will have a waived adoption fee; kittens will be 2-for-1 and puppies and single kittens are just $75. A $16 licensing fee will still apply for puppies three months or older.

The HSSA main shelter (3450 N. Kelvin Blvd.) will host the adoption event on Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., with the Tucson Food Truck Roundup showing up on Saturday to help keep the heroes energy level up.  The shelter will also open early on Sunday at 11 a.m. and will hold adoptions until 5 p.m. and then on Memorial Day the shelter will host adoptions from noon to 4 p.m.  HSSA volunteers will also be serving free eegees from noon to 3 p.m. on Memorial Day.

Special prices will also be available at all HSSA adoption locations.

All animals adopted from the HSSA are spayed/neutered, fully vaccinated, micro-chipped and ready to give a lifetime of love.
