East-side intersection to temporarily close for sewer work - Tucson News Now

Strip of East Old Spanish Trail to close for roadwork

Posted: Updated:
TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

Construction crews will close East Old Spanish Trail between East 22nd Street and South Harrison Road on the east side this week for roadwork.

The street will be shut down from Wednesday, May 28 through Tuesday, June 3 while Pima County Waste Management installs a new underground sewer pipe, according to city of Tucson officials.

Expect delays in this area in your morning and evening commute. The intersection of East 22nd Street and Harrison is an alternate for travelers.

Travelers will have to access the south parking entrance of Target located on Harrison Road, as the larger entrance on Old Spanish Trail will be off limits.

In addition, Walgreens customers have to enter on the north side of the parking lot, on Harrison Road instead of the one on Old Spanish Trail.

If drivers wish to avoid Harrison Road altogether during this construction, they can also use South Camino Seco or South Houghton Road to get around the roadwork.

Please drive carefully in all construction zones.
