WASHINGTON, DC (CNN) - Veterans groups are outraged over the wait-list scandals at VA hospitals.

Members of the Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America met on Thursday with the Secretary of the Department of Veterans Affairs and other top officials.

IAVA Chief of Staff Derek Bennett says that the meeting did nothing to restore his confidence in Secretary Eric Shinseki and the White House.

"At the end of the day, the president's the one who is ultimately responsible. He picks who his cabinet secretaries are. He's the one that's supposed to ensure that systems are in place and that he's getting accurate information and serving our vets. You know, from the moment a young man or woman in this country raises their right hand and swears an oath, they're reporting to the commander in chief. That shouldn't stop once they move from the DoD (Department of Defense) to the Department of Veterans Affairs."

Bennett says the IAVA doesn't doubt Shinseki's sincerity, but he says the veterans organization still has serious questions about whether he has the tools, resources and confidence of VA staff to create real reform.
