TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

Expect traffic delays and detours on the southwest side starting Monday.

Contractors for the city of Tucson are replacing a water valve on South Mission Road at Irvington Place, north of West Irvington Road. Work will begin at 6 on Monday morning and continue through Friday, June 6.

Crews will shave both the north and southbound sides of Mission Road down to one lane through the work zone.

Eastbound and westbound drivers on Irvington Place wanting to turn onto Mission will only be able to turn right.

Travelers can use West Ajo Way or Old Nogales Highway/Nogales Highway as alternates to get around this construction, or just plan for more drive time.

Always drive slowly and carefully around all construction.
