(CNN) – The 2014 Atlantic hurricane season begins on Sunday, and it's expected to be a near-normal to below average season.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration is forecasting eight to 13 named storms.

Three to six of those named storms are predicted to become hurricanes; one to two of those hurricanes could become Category 3 or higher.

Remember – it's never too early to start preparing for the potential of any and all storms.
