Phone scammers in Prescott are impersonating Yavapai County Sheriff's deputies. Apparently, the caller told a victim that she had two misdemeanor warrants for failure to comply with a jury summons.

A second caller then told the victim to buy almost $1,000 with debit cards to pay her fines over the phone. The victim was also told she would be arrested if she contacted police.

There have been several reports of calls like these and an investigation is on-going.  Sheriff's deputies say anyone receiving calls such as these should immediately notify a law enforcement agency.
