Statewide computer issues affecting MVD wait times

Posted: Updated:
TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

If you're planning on heading to the Motor Vehicle Department, you might want to hold off. Many locations across the state are experiencing problems with their computers.

This in turn is creating longer wait times for people. Tucson News Now checked out the MVD on Stocker Drive near 22nd Street and Pantano Way.

People there said they weren't even told about the issue at first.

Arizona Department of Transportation tweeted about the problem earlier this afternoon asking people to delay their visit if possible. A couple hours later, ADOT tweeted that the problem was intermittent.

Joyce Joosten waited for two hours at the east side MVD to get her license.

"They did indicate there was some state problem. Of course they didn't tell us when we first came in. But they did tell us it would be about an hour wait. It was later this afternoon that they said go ahead and leave if you want. It's going to be a really long time," she said.

Diana Suridge was trying to get her son an identification card, but decided to leave and come back later.

"It was just horrendous. The lines were really long. We were there an hour before we were told that it would probably be hours before we were done. So, we're just going to come back," Suridge said.

Check back for updates on the MVD computer issue.
