Going hiking? Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate

Posted: Updated:

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) –We can't stress enough the importance of hydrating before you go on a hike.

Golder Ranch Fire District says before you take a hike of any distance or difficulty, make sure you are properly hydrated---that includes hydrating 24 hours before your hike.

Over the weekend, Golder Ranch Fire responded to a hiker rescue off of the Romero Pools Trail. Golder Ranch Fire says the 25 year-old hiker became dehydrated while hiking down the trail. Authorities were able to rescue the man, and he was in good condition after the rehydration process.

Other things to keep in mind if you plan to go on a hike…have some type of communication, and tell someone where you are going.
