TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

A 5-year-old boy was taken to a local hospital after a near-drowning incident today on Tucson's northeast side.

According to the Rural/Metro Fire Department, crews responded to the 7900 block of East Snyder Road, near North Sabino Canyon Road, at about 12:45.

The boy was swimming with family when they found him unconscious in the water. It is not known how long he was in the water.

Bystanders performed CPR while 911 was contacted.

The boy was breathing and crying when the Rural/Metro firefighter/paramedics arrived.

He was taken to a local hospital for further evaluation. His condition is not known.
