Record heat starts to break down

Four of the past four days were the hottest so far in 2014, while three of those were at or above 105. A few days in that short stretch either tied or broke a record high.

Saturday the mercury climbed up to 106 degrees, while on Sunday we fell back a few degrees to 103. But the cooler trend ended there as we scorched up to 108 on Monday. The hottest day before this weekend was only a few days before on May 28th when Tucson got up to 103 degrees.

Monday's 108 was a new record which beat last years record of 107.
Tuesday's 107 tied the record set back in 1996.

So far this year we have seen 10 days at or above 100 degrees, when our average highs have not even got to that triple digit mark yet. That day will happen June 10th. The most 100 degree days in a year has been 99 and the least has been 21. Last year we saw that dreadful number 74 times. We are on track to have more than last year as this date last year we only had three 100 degree days.
