TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

A man was struck and killed by a train on West Ruthrauff Road near Interstate 10 on Tuesday evening, according to a Northwest Fire District spokesman.

Capt. Adam Goldberg said the man was walking when he was struck by a northbound train. That man has been identified as 34-year-old Joshua Taylor Partner.

Authorities say Partner didn't noticed the railroad warning signals when he crossed the tracks in front of the train.

According to the Pima County Sheriff's Department, Partner was walking with his head down and wearing headphones before he was struck by the train. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Sheriff's Department Traffic Unit is investigating the incident.
