Dalbec named Louisville Slugger Freshman All American

TUCSON, Ariz. – University of Arizona baseball player Bobby Dalbec was named a Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American as selected by Collegiate Baseball, it was announced on Wednesday.

A native of Parker, Colo., Dalbec served a two-way player for the Wildcats as a position player and pitcher. Dalbec played in 47 games with 44 starts, including 33 at first base and 11 as the designated hitter. He also was second on the club with 22 appearances out of the bullpen.

Offensively, Dalbec finished fifth on the team with a .266 batting average and tied for the team lead with two home runs. His 30 runs batted in were third-most for any Wildcat, and he added 22 runs scored.

A 6-foot-4 right-hander, Dalbec tuned in the lowest earned run average on the pitching staff with a 2.13 mark. He had a 3-5 record and two saves to his credit, while striking out 24 batters over 38.0 innings pitched.

Dalbec was one of three players named to the Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American under the "multiple position athletes" designation. He becomes the 20th Arizona player to garner Freshman All-American honors from Collegiate Baseball.

Last season, shortstop Kevin Newman was tabbed a Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American.

Dalbec is scheduled to spend the summer playing for the Orleans Firebirds in the Cape Cod Baseball League.
