2 hikers treated for heat distress in Catalina SP

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

A hiker suffering symptoms of heat-related illness had to be rescued Wednesday afternoon in Catalina State Park.

According to the Golder Ranch Fire District, a 20-year-old woman was transported to a local hospital in fair condition after being treated by a paramedic team.

Another woman hiking in the group of four was treated and released.

Crews from Northwest Fire District and the Pima County Sheriff's Department also responded to the incident.

Tucson's temperature reached 108 degrees Wednesday afternoon.

An excessive heat warning was issued for the area until 7 p.m. Wednesday and from noon to 7 p.m. Thursday.
