DONETSK, UKRAINE (CNN) - Military and pro-Russia separatists are still battling in the eastern part of Ukraine.

But Ukrainian forces have scored their first victory in many weeks in the city of Krasny Liman, driving out pro-Russian separatists and hoisting the Ukrainian flag above the town hall.

A hospital was damaged in the process. Heavy artillery fire also could be heard around the city.

Both sides appear to be digging in for a fight in eastern Ukraine.
