CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) -

The Cleveland mother accused of abandoning two kids at a local shelter made her first court appearance Friday morning.

Alisha Houston, 31, plead not guilty. She is charged with two counts of child endangering.

Houston is the mother of a 3-week-old and 1-year old, who police say was dropped off at Salvation Army/Harbor Light on Prospect Ave. last Wednesday.

Employees there say Houston was given a room after she and her two kids checked into the shelter at 2:00 a.m. A few hours later, when workers went to check on them, the kids were found to be alone.

Houston was located at a homeless shelter near Columbus, OH the next day.

A Cleveland judge set Houston's bond at $5,000 Friday.

The children remain in the custody of the Department of Children and Family Services.
