Stricter fire restrictions in place across Southern AZ

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

There are additional fire restrictions campers at Mt. Lemmon should be aware of this weekend. 

Beginning today, June 6 there are a number of restrictions in place that were not in place last week.

The restrictions are - no fires in any of the campgrounds, this includes both campfires and wood stoves. 

Campers are only allowed to smoke inside a vehicle or a building. Shooting is also prohibited, unless the camper is hunting.

    The San Juan Fire straddling the Fort Apache Indian Reservation and the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forest in the White Mountains continues to expand, but so does containment.
    Crews are working to restore the 1,220 acres in the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forest that were damaged by the San Juan Fire earlier this summer.
