WASHINGTON, June 6, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Ukrainian and Syrian communities will host an American Red Cross blood drive which will serve as a symbolic payback to the American people for their continued support in promoting a peaceful resolution of the civil war in Syria and Russian invasion of Ukraine. Both communities would also want to raise awareness of the humanitarian crisis unfolding in Syria and the East of Ukraine, which, among others, manifests itself in the shortage of donor blood and life saving medications.

A blood drive

Blood donors have been mobilized by two Ukrainian American organizations:

Razom and U.S.-Ukraine Business Council, and a Syrian American organization - Syrian American Council.

Monday, June 9, 2014; 9:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.  Representatives of Ukrainian organizations will be available for interviews at the blood drive venue throughout the entire duration of the blood drive. An interview with Syrian American Council can be arranged separately.

A blood mobile will be parked in front of the office building located in 1300 I (eye) Street, NW, Washington, D.C., USA
