TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

The Humane Society of Southern Arizona is hosting its Dog Days in the Desert summer camps.

There are six distinct summer programs available that will show children and young adults how to be a responsible pet owner, through hands on, in depth activities.  This will be done via classroom activities, artistic exercises and lots of hands on animal care.

The groups are split into three age groups - Freshman - ages 6 to 8; Juniors - ages 9 to 11; and Seniors ages 12 to 14.  Each four day session will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Thursday.

The Freshman get to participate in groups like Best Friends Forever; Enrichment Enthusiasts Camp; while Juniors have Animal Advocate Camp and Animal Art Camp.  Seniors will have Compassionate Careers and Sit! Stay! Spin! Dog Training Camp.

Sessions will be held at the HSSA's Companions for Life Center (3465 E. Kleindale Rd.)
