TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

The Pima County Sheriff's Department is investigating a body found on Tucson's northwest side.

According to Dep. Tracy Suitt, a decomposing body was found near North Trico and West Avra Valley roads.

Suitt said the body is an adult female. Her age and identification are unknown pending an autopsy at the Medical Examiner's Office.

The Homicide Unit and Command Post were on the scene, though because of the state of the body, it is unclear if there are signs of trauma.

A woman driving on Trico Road found the body and called 911 at about 12:40 p.m.

Tucson News Now's Christine Pae is at the scene. She can be followed on Twitter at @ChristinePae.
